4/16/2007 - Note to the Field - Prevention Course Offerings

Much to my dismay, the plan to bring up online courses during this year is looking less and less likely to happen. For a variety of technical and contracting reasons, the online courses are not coming together in sufficient time for you to access them before July 1. Due to these problems, two courses have been developed and will be offered in 3 locations around the state in May and June. Both courses will assist you to meet the requirements for the Qualified Prevention Professional and the Prevention Specialist Certification.

Prevention Ethics is a 1-day course that will be offered on May 11, in Boise, June 1, in Moscow, and June 8, in Idaho Falls. Prevention Theories is a 2-day course that will be offered in June. Locations for the Prevention Theory course will depend on where the majority of participants are located. The dates for the Prevention Theories course are not yet set, but I will get a note out as soon as they are determined.

As always, there will be no registration fee for staff of prevention programs receiving Department of Health and Welfare funding through Benchmark. Additional assistance may be available for travel, housing and meals. For all others the registration fee for the Prevention Ethics course is $175.00 and for the Prevention Theories course, the registration fee is $300. To get more information, register or request assistance for either course, please phone me at 208.334.6542 or email me at pappint@dhw.idaho.gov. Continuing education units will be available for an additional fee. If you have any questions please call or email me.

Benchmark Note to the Field about Terry's Note to the Field.
If you have unused Qualified Prevention Professional Program funds in your Benchmark contract, whether designated for online or in-person Idaho Prevention Institute class participation, Benchmark will work with you to reallocate some or all of those funds for participation in the Ethics course, Prevention Theories course, or both. Please contact your Regional Manager before you attend the substitute classes to be certain that funds are available and to arrange for the reallocation of unspent QPPP funds.
