4/27/2007 - Note to the Field - Prevention Theories Course coming in June

It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Prevention Conference.  As I mentioned at the meeting, the dates for the Prevention Theory courses are now set and registration is open.  We are still working on the online courses and information about the process will be coming out in the fall.  Prevention Theory will be offered in North Idaho, Southwest Idaho and Southeast Idaho in June.  The course will assist you to meet the requirements for the Qualified Prevention Professional and the Prevention Specialist Certification.

Prevention Theories is a 2-day course that will be offered in June.  Locations for the Prevention Theory course will depend on where the majority of participants are located. The Southeast Idaho course will be offered June 11 and 12, the Southwest Idaho course will be offered June 18 and 19, and the North Idaho course will be offered June 25 and 26.

As always, there will be no registration fee for staff of prevention programs receiving Department of Health and Welfare funding through Benchmark.  Additional assistance for staff of these programs may be available for travel, housing and meals.  For all others the fee for the Prevention Theories course is $300.  Registration is limited to 25 at each site, so please register as soon as possible.  To get more information, register or request assistance for either course, please phone me at 208.334.6542 or email me at pappint@dhw.idaho.gov.  Continuing education units will be available for an additional fee.  If you have any questions please call or email me.  I look forward to seeing you at the trainings.

Benchmark Note to the Field about Terry's Note to the Field.
If you have unused Qualified Prevention Professional Program funds in your Benchmark 2007 contract, whether designated for online or in-person Idaho Prevention Institute class participation, Benchmark will work with you to reallocate some or all of those funds for participation in the Ethics course, Prevention Theories course, or both. You must contact your Regional Manager before you attend the substitute classes to be certain that funds are available and to arrange for the reallocation of unspent QPPP funds.
